Thanks everyone for a great week in Maputo. It was very rewarding for me, but also challenging, to work with you. I enclose my presentation, and I hope it will give you inspiration to develop services to both researchers and students. Keep up the good work!

Facts about Mozambique and Sweden
During the introduction, a few number of key facts were presented on Sweden and Mozambique. A couple of sources were used, but Veronica Trépagny asked the participants to give her links to the best, reliable sources for information and statistics on Mozambique. This is the assignment: share reliable links with the team leader. We will share those here on the blog.
For quick facts about Sweden, especially this official Sweden website, was used. For Borås and West Sweden, more for tourism and visits, these two sources may be used boras.com and West Sweden.

Ongoing workshop
We are so happy to be here in Maputo, even though the workshop note books and pens are still left behind in Nairobi (to arrive this afternoon).
This morning, the workshop was opened. The team leaders Horacio Zimba and Veronica Trépagny presented the programme and the context. Veronica gave a background on the cooperation and a presentation of the University of Borås, before the actual workshop on the modern research library was started by Svante Kristensson, the University of Borås library director.
The aim of the introduction and workshop is for us all, Eduardo Mondlane and Borås, to have a shared framwork and point of departure for the cooperation. With exchanged ideas and experience (from Mozambique and Sweden) as a point of departure, we will be able to even better stake out possibilities together.
The introduction gives a context, with a focus on the research training partnership programme. It also focuses aims and objectives of the ongoing five year cooperatin.
Here is the introductory presentation and here is the short presentation on the University of Borås.
The modern research library workshop, is based on the university library of Borås and will focus on the roles of the librarian, research support and the importance of professionalism in librarianship.

Workshop on the Modern Research Library
Svante Kristensson and Veronica Trépagny from the University of Borås will be in Maputo between Sunday 15th and Friday 20th of April. The new five year phase of the Sida sponsored cooperation between Swedish universities and the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane will be officially launched and a planning meeting is to take place. But most importantly from the point of view of the library -- Svante Kristensson, who is the university library director in Borås, Sweden, is going to hold a workshop with librarians at the central library on the theme of the modern research library. This is the team's way to, together with you, define potential ways of the library to work. And to invite you to the cooperation. The worskhop starts on Monday 16th of April and closes on Thursday 19th of April. A bit later, in June, Anna Stockman, librarian at BTH, will come for an information literacy training.
See you soon!

Research4Life, improved access and content
We have found some interesting news about the improved Research4Life. Please share with your colleagues and users.
(A link to the information above and more is found here)
From the beginning of this year, all institutions registered for any of the Research4Life programmes (Hinari, AGORA, OARE and ARDI) get access to all portals with their credentials. New registered institutions no longer receive programme specific credentials but a general Research4Life access.
This means that any Research4Life user can now access up to 81,000 resources of Research4Life from all four programmes! On the 6th of March, the GOALI (Global Online Access to Legal Information) will be launched as the fifth Research4Life programme. All institutions registered with the partnership will have access to information on academic legal journals, publications and databases. GOALI is hosted by the International Labour Organization (ILO). More information about the launch can be found here.

Welcome to the Central Library Programme at UEM
Welcome to our blog - and don't forget to subscribe
This is where the library team working within the Sida Research Training Parntership Programme cooperation between Swedish universities and the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) in Mozambique are going to communicate. Here, we will share what we are here for, what our aims are, what we do and how you can learn more. We want to include all librarians and library staff working within the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane libraries in our communication, but others are also welcome to follow us.
The Sida research cooperation aims at creating an environment even more conducive for research and the formulation of problems and theories adressing Mozambique's own challenges. For any research based university, a modern research library is needed. The vision of the central library of the UEM is "to be a modern research library and center of excellence in technical and scientific information". As (also) described in the concept note for the Central Library Programme, its mission is further to "bring together necessary information resources for teaching and research a at Eduardo Mondlane University in particular and in the country in general".
